What are your earliest World Cup memories?

My earliest World Cup memories are from 1994.

The opening match was Germany 1:0 Bolivia.

(I remember) 5 goals scored by Russian striker Oleg Salenko in vs Cameroon and Roberto Baggio missing penalty in the final against Brazil.

World Cup 1994 was full of surprises.

I still remember Romania eliminating Argentina and Sweden taking 3rd place.

A huge surprise was Bulgaria reaching the semi final after a great victory in the quarter final vs Germany and an amazing performance by Hristo Stoichkov.

What can we expect from Poland?

Poland won their qualifying group ahead of Denmark and Montenegro, winning eight matches, losing one and drawing one.

Poland is quite a strong team, lead by coach Adam Nawalka we reached the quarter-final of Euro 2016 losing the game against Portugal in penalty shootout.

Our biggest star is Robert Lewandowski, who scored 29 goals for Bayern, becoming Bundesliga top scorer in 2017/2018 season.

Poland’s hopes at the World Cup depend on Lewandowski. He scored 16 goals in 10 games — a European qualifying record — to propel Poland to its first World Cup in 12 years.

As well as Lewandowski, we can definitely count on Wojciech Szczesny who is expected to be a 1st goalkeeper in Juventus ( played already 17 games last season ).

In defence we have Kamil Glik, playing for Monaco nominated to Team of the Year in French Ligue 1 in seasons 2016/2017 and 2017/2018.

At right back plays Lukasz Piszczek from Borussia Dortmund, in center our raising star Jan Bednarek who suddenly became first eleven player of Southampton.

In 2nd line we have Grzegorz Krychowiak ( season 2017/2018 in West Bromwich Albion, on loan from PSG ), Kamil Grosicki ( Hull City ), experienced former Borussia Dortmund star Jakub Blaszczykowski ( currently Vfl Wolfsburg ) and very talented playmaker Piotr Zielinski ( Napoli ).

As strikers, except Lewandowski we have also Arkadiusz Milik ( Napoli ) who few months ago recovered from serious injury and young perspective UC Sampdoria player- Dawid Kownacki.

Give us the lowdown on Group H?

We are in a group with Colombia, Senegal and Japan.

I think that the strongest opponent is Colombia, having really good players such as James Rodriguez ( Bayern ), Falcao ( Monaco ), Cuadrado ( Juventus ) and Arsenal goalkeeper Ospina.

We can’t underestimate Senegal, a team that qualified to Wold Cup without loosing any match. Their biggest stars are Liverpool’s striker Sadio Mane and Kalidou Koulibal, the best defender of Napoli.

Theoretically the weakest team in our group is Japan. Surprisingly in April, Akira Nishino was replaced by Vahid Halilhodžić as a head coach but since then Japan lost friendly games against Switzerland and Ghana both 2:0.

Japan qualified for the World Cup after finishing top of its group, which also included other World Cup finalists Saudi Arabia and Australia.

Despite good results in qualifications, Japan has small chances to go to the next round in World Cup in Russia.

Who will qualify from the group?

I believe Poland can easily qualify to next round, even winning the group.

Colombia will also make it through.

Problem can be in playoff where we (Poland) will most likely have to face Belgium or England.

Both teams are very strong and can easily end up our dreams about winning the World Cup.

Nevertheless, I am sure World Cup 2018 will be huge event, connecting all football fans around the world ! If your National Team didn’tt qualify, please supportt Poland and keep fingers crossed for my country !

When the competition is over who will emerge victorious?

Based on friendly games results I am pretty sure Germany will not defend the title.

The most complete team is France.

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann can be biggest stars of this tournament.

Argentina is full of stars, including great offensive players : Messi, Dybala and Higuain however there is no team spirit what wad visible in qualification round.

Very positively can surprise Belgium and Uruguay, both teams with chances to reach the semi final.

I can see some chances to win the world cup for Brazil that has very talented players, especially Neymar who is hungry for victories.

Unfortunately no chance for Spain that sacked their coach 50 hours before their 1st game vs Portugal.
