With football fever kicking off this week, large screens have popped up all around the city to make sure you can catch every goal, every red card and every penalty shoot out.

Even for reluctant football fans like myself, the lure or sunshine, fresh air and sparkling wine is enough to entice me and the dog along to join the football fanatics – well for a game or two at least.

Here are our top three dog friendly venues to enjoy the game:

Champs Sziget Beer Garden

Located a few hundred meters in for the 4/6 stop for Margit Sziget, Champs’ causal beer garden is the ideal spot to stop off after a stroll around the park. Dogs can play on the grassy fields, cool off in the river and join you for a pint in one of the gardens comfy bean bags.

With a main large screen and several other smaller ones dotted around the bar this is a good spot for an afternoon or weekend match.

Located in the city center this park, terrace and music venue, is the ideal location for meeting friends and watching a game with a cocktail or two. Your four legged friend can burn some energy in the dog park located to the north of the square, before joining you around the pool side to watch the game. Live music is set to follow the game on several evenings, making Akvárium the perfect place to start your evening.

Szabadság ter

Apparently also known as Belvárosi Focimozi or Downtown Football Cinema, Szabadság ter has been transformed into mini football haven for the next four weeks. Two large screens sit either end of the square, whilst the grassy area is lined with food and beverage stalls.

Popular with dog walkers throughout the year, szabadsg ter is our favourite place to enjoy the world cup this year.
