Sziget 2018 officially kicks into life tomorrow & the whole town can’t wait.
Every August we city dwellers leave behind the crowded Budapest streets & hit up one of Europe’s most colourful festivals.
Now in it’s 26th year, Sziget just gets better & better.
The festivities will run from the 8th till the 15th.
An eclectic roll call of artists await us all on Obuda island.
Compton’s finest, Kendrick Lamarr will smash it as he headlines the main stage on the opening night.
Pulse are especially excited to catch The War on Drugs, Gogol Bordello, The Kooks, Wolf Alice, The Goo Goo Dolls, Arctic Monkeys & Seasick Steve.
Don’t worry if none of those acts take your fancy. Bastille, Mumford & Sons, Lana Del Rey, Dua Lip, Liam Gallagher, Gorillaz & many, many more will all be in action.
Whatever your musical tastes, you are bound to find something that keeps you bouncing.
Sziget is unlike any other festival on the planet. Where else can you find an superb music & arts extravaganza in the middle of an island in a major European city?
That’s right. Nowhere.
Day tickets, might set you back around 24k but you do not want to miss out.
Get on it.
How to get there:
Run along to Margit Bridge & jump on the Hev. Buy & validate your ticket. It won’t cost much. Remember to get off @ Filatorigat.
If you plan to stay sober (few of us are), then a leisurely cycle along the Danube might appeal. Again Margit Bridge is the meeting spot. Once your there, stick to the bikers path by the water and you’ll reach the island in about thirty minutes or so.
Uber disappeared along time ago from Hungary, so for those of you who would prefer avoiding public transport altogether then literally hundreds of taxis will happily take you to Sziget.
If you fancy yourself as a modern day Popeye, then head down to Jaszai Mari Ter & hop on the Sziget boat.
