This review should’ve been typed up & posted a long time ago. I had a quick chat with the Bölcső owner on my last visit & I said he should look out for an article. I may or may not have been drunk at the time.
After a crazy month, I finally managed to sit down & get it all ready.
Let’s get into, shall we?
I am surprised that it took me an age to discover this place.
Don’t get me wrong – I visited the old Kisrablo quite a few times.
Ever since Kis closed their doors & Bölcső moved in, I’d never jumped over Liberty Bridge to pay a visit.
Well. I didn’t know how good Bölcső is. For some reason my expectations were low.
As always, I was wrong & how.
A game of football brought me here.
Bölcső happens to be the home of Hungary’s Liverpool supporters club. I ain’t a Red by any stretch but a pal invited me over to watch a match & I thought why not?
I can’t believe it took me so long. I loved the place.
The first thing that gripped me was this – Bölcső beer list is pretty bloody special. It rivals all the drinking establishments I usually find myself in.
You won’t be surprised when I tell you that said list consisted of craft brews right?
Hungarian superstars, Mad Scientist, Horizont, Monyo, Brew your Mind & others can be found in abundance.
Fancy a foreign brew? Nae worries. The Estonian kings Põhjala are in the house. Not to mention there are a whole host of cracking Czech beers available.
If you need something tasty to accompany your beer, then try the incredible food. Burgers, burgers, burgers are their specialty. The menu is simple but brilliant.
The bar reminds me of pubs back home in Scotland. Welcoming. Chilled. It’s compact enough to find your only little corner & chew the fat.
The Bölcső bar crew have got you covered. They know their beers. They know their food.
I will spend a lot of my summer here.
Get down to Bölcső as soon as you can.
Check out what the Bölcső lads are serving up on Untappd.
